A few days back my friend came to visit and brought a young blackberry plant as a housewarming present. What joy! I have been hoping for a blackberry (also called brambleberry by some) plant for a long time but never got round to buying one myself. We enjoyed our evening with sauna and a tour of the garden, and the next morning I got my shovel out to plant our newcomer. Blackberries like full sun, not too windy conditions and a good drainage of the soil, so I decided to give the plant a great place in front of our our south-west facing wall. After planting I covered the soil with some green mulch and watered the plant. For now it seems to like it there. I can't wait to have some delicious blackberries, maybe  next year already!
