A food forest (multistrata agroforestry) is an agroforestry system in which food-producing trees, shrubs, and other plants are grown together in a forest-like setting. Food forests are designed to mimic the structure and diversity of a natural forest ecosystem, with multiple layers of plants, including canopy trees, understory trees and shrubs, herbaceous plants, and groundcovers.
