Type of preserves
There are many different types of preserves, including:
- Jam: A thick spread made from crushed or chopped fruit that is cooked with sugar and pectin.
- Jelly: A clear, spreadable preserve made from fruit juice that is cooked with sugar and pectin.
- Marmalade: A preserve made from citrus fruit, such as oranges or lemons, that is cooked with sugar and sometimes spices. It has a chunky texture and a tart flavor.
- Chutney: A savory preserve made from fruit and vegetables that is often spiced and can be sweet, sour, or spicy.
- Pickles: A type of preserve made from cucumbers or other vegetables that are pickled in a vinegar and salt solution.
Preserves can be enjoyed on toast, biscuits, crackers, or as a topping for ice cream, yogurt, and other desserts. They can also be used as ingredients in cooking and baking, such as in sauces, glazes, and baking mixes.
At Beyond Buckthorns we have all of them.
